 Famed Wildlife Artist Carl Brenders
to Appear in Gettysburg

9/15/2004 - Lord Nelson's Gallery in Gettysburg will host a personal appearance by renowned wildlife artist Carl Brenders on Friday, September 24th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Gallery director Philippe du Bois is excited at this opportunity. "This is one of the world’s most recognized and respected wildlife artists and he’s coming to Gettysburg - all the way from his native Belgium! This will be his second show at the gallery, something we consider to be a great honor. It’ll be a wonderful opportunity for the public to meet Carl. Anyone with an interest in wildlife, the outdoors, nature and/or quality art will certainly enjoy meeting him and should be quite impressed with the photographic quality of his paintings."

Carl Brenders’ art is a reflection of nature. He has the ability to take you where even the most intrepid of field guides cannot - under the pines, nose to nose with bright-eyed chipmunks and deep into the woods, shoulder to shoulder with wolves, making you feel like one of the pack.

Brenders’ respect for all creatures, from the friendly to the ferocious, is evident in his mastery of every detail about them. Not a whisker, not a twig, not a feather is overlooked. His insistence on anatomical perfection in his paintings stems from his philosophy that nature, itself, is perfection: "That is why I paint the way I do…I want to capture that perfection." He deems details as small and as common as lichens worthy of this time and attention. He reasons that if it takes a lichen 200 years to grow as large as a coin, surely he can devote the extra hours necessary to render its every subtlety precisely and perfectly. An intense man, he sees the minutia that the average person misses.

Brenders has been capturing such perfection for art collectors throughout North America and Europe. He was recently honored as the 24th Master Artist at the prestigious 2002 "Birds in Art" Exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI. A dedicated conservationist, Brenders has raised many funds for environmental and conservation causes with his art.

Lord Nelson's Gallery specializes in wildlife and historical art and is an authorized representative of Mill Pond Press, publisher of Brender’s limited edition prints. Original paintings of Mr. Brenders will also be available during the show. Some of his artwork is available for viewing on the gallery’s website at www.lordnelsons.com.
