(4/20) Thursday evening, the Gateway Theater Complex will play host to the Public Premier of Robert Monahan Jr and Greystone Productions new 30-minute film, Fields of Freedom. From 7-9 pm, the new Gateway Theaters will be filled with nationally known artists, authors and reenactors to launch the 9th annual History Meets the Arts festival. Four screenings of the film will be held during this special evening. All ticket holders will be entered into raffle drawings for valuable art and Gettysburg tour packages. The $7 million film, Fields of Freedom, allows viewers to experience the greatest battle of the Civil War as never before. This groundbreaking film transports the audience to the Battle of Gettysburg with all its sound and fury. Based on the discovered diaries of soldiers from both the Union and the Confederate armies, the 30-minute film immerses you in the lives of two young men as they prepare for the onslaught of what will be know for all time, as Pickett’s Charge. The audience will witness the ferocity of the battle and the anguish of its aftermath.

Playing exclusively at Gateway Gettysburg, the film is a triumph of digital film and sound technology. The new, state-of-the-art, specially designed, giant-screen theaters are located at the crossroads of Route 30 and 15, just minutes from the Gettysburg National Military Park. The film was produced by Robert J. Monahan, Jr. with Craig Haffner of Greystone Films and an Academy Award and Emmy Award winning production team. The musical score was composed by Trevor Jones and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. The Gettysburg Address is narrated by George H.W. Bush, 41st President of the United States.

The premier is just one event in more than 60 comprising the History Meets the Arts Festival April 20 through 23 in Gettysburg. Other highlights include: Railsplitter: A New Look at Lincoln by Students and Teachers and the newly restored Lincoln Train Station, Watch a Dale Gallon Watercolor Come to Life, Vintage Photography at the Majestic Theater, Chainsaw Art Carving Demonstration at the Gettysburg Village, a huge Artisan Encampment at the Gettysburg Fire Fall and an Exclusive Book Release and Signing at the American Civil War Museum.
