Wantz Chevrolet hosts ‘Christmas for Community Kids’

(11/20) Wantz Chevrolet’s ‘Christmas for Community Kids,’ an annual tradition to roll out the Christmas cheer in Taneytown, is seeking community donations for the less fortunate.

"Stuff the Trunk" events to load vehicles with as many donated goodies as possible during the holiday season are nothing new. But for Wantz it’s an honored tradition.

Once again Wantz Chevrolet is collaborating with the community with Christmas for

"We appreciate everyone support to help us brighten Christmas for those in our community," Shelia Wantz, Marketing Business Development Manager said.

For years, the local family-owned dealership has been collecting toys for their annual "Christmas for Community Kids," by overflowing a showroom pickup truck with holiday cheer, including new unwrapped toys for all ages, nonperishable foods, blankets, hats, and other cold weather gear.

Originally, the dealership began collecting goods for Toys for Tots; a program founded and organized by the US Marine Corps Reserve. The goal of this program is to collect and distribute toys to struggling families in the Baltimore area to give them a Christmas that they would not have otherwise. It soon came to the attention of Wantz Chevrolet however that there are members of the local community that are also in need of help, and thus "Christmas for Community Kids" was born.

The goal has always been to fill the truck completely with toys and the other accepted items to give underprivileged children and families an unforgettable holiday season they wouldn’t have been able to provide by themselves.

Working together to make the community a better place has always been at the forefront of the Wantz Chevrolet and engaging with other local businesses is an important aspect.

Donations may be dropped off at Wantz Chevrolet, Taneytown Bowling, Taneytown Liquor Barn, Taneytown Kennies Market, or Carroll Vista Clubhouse.
