(7/5) The Thurmont Business Network encourages all business leaders in the community to join their monthly meetings to share experiences and discuss any current areas of interest or concern.
The mission of the Thurmont Business Network is to connect and empower local businesses, according to Economic Development Manager Vickie Grinder.
The monthly meetings are an essential aspect of the Thurmont Economic Development Networks mission to connect local businesses and show they are all in it together.
Existing and emerging businesses alike are encouraged to pull up a seat in solidarity and discuss the ever-changing world of business economics.
Meetings are typically held in the mornings, but the network’s June meeting spruced things up with an afternoon visit to local vineyard. Business owners throughout the area were welcomed to meet while sharing a glass of award-winning local vino overlooking the mountain scenery.
Showcasing that local businesses are more than just a storefront, the Thurmont Business Network allows business leaders to connect with other entrepreneurs who can share in their struggles and highlights, bolstering the mindset that ‘when one succeeds, we all succeed’.
The Business network was established in 2019 and continued virtual programs even though the pandemic, Grinder said. Returning to in-person events in September 2021, a typical monthly networking event can see as many as 25 to 30 participants, she said.
The networking has kicked off in full force every first Thursday of the month to bring connection and support to local businesses and every third month the event brings in a speaker relevant to local business.
"Today, networking is everything," Grinder said.
Collecting local business leaders under one roof, the events also often host guest speakers to discuss services and programs available including low interest loans and legal assistance, she said.
Grinder looks to see the events continually grow and welcome all business leaders in the area.
"It really puts a face to the business and brings everyone together," she said.
