Woodsboro gears up for 8th Annual Woodsboro Days

(9/23) After being cancelled for the first time since its inception, the weekend of October 16 will see the return of Woodsboro Days. The Woodsboro Days are a community event designed to encourage visitors and locals alike to explore the history of the Town of Woodsboro.

The Woodsboro days were started in 2013, after roughly 25 years without a town wide celebration honoring Woodsboro. Based on the success of the 2013 event, the celebration became an annual event to promote the history of the town and its many offerings.

Community members are encouraged to participate in both traditional and newly established activities. Families from Woodsboro and surrounding towns are invited to share in all the events celebrated during Woodsboro Days, including the many expected yard sales. Residents and visitors can walk the streets, partaking of baked goods, yards sales and flea markets, speak with fellow residents and learn more about Woodsboro.

The celebration kicks off with the Woodsboro Historical Society's 9th annual Woodsboro 5K Run/Walk beginning at 9 a.m.. The race will be held in Regional Park with a course covering a mix of paved and wooded trails. Participants will receive a race t-shirt and packet before the start of the race. Free snacks and drinks, donated by Burgess Heath Barnes, will be provided at the end of the 5K. Online registration for this event can be found on the Woodsboro Historical Society website at www.woodsborohistoricalsociety.org and race day registration will be available from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m.

The Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church is also starting the weekend off bright and early with their annual bake sale and community yard sale. Stop by the church to shop and show your support for Woodsboro. Yard sale booths will be set up in the church yard as well as tables in the social hall. For those interested in reserving a space for the outdoor yard sale, contact Robin Delauter at 301-845-7389. The church is also accepting donations for the sale, which can be dropped off at the social hall.

The Woodsboro Historical Society is hosting an open house to share their collection of local artifacts, photographs, and reference materials. Members of the Society will be on-hand to answer questions about the rich history of the town.

The 2021 Woodsboro Days will also be hosting the first annual family friendly music festival in the Woodsboro Park. Visitors can enjoy the outdoor music event between 1 - 6:30 p.m. The stage will be available for children and teenagers to showcase musical talents between 1 and 2 p.m.

Local vendors will be set up in this space for patrons to shop around. Local vendors will include So Sweet Cookies, the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Company and American Legion Auxiliary, ABC Creations, Thursday Afternoon, Three Spartans Apiary, Paparazzi Jewelry, and Justine Walker-Essential Oils. Vendor spaces are still available. Please reach out to Burgess Barnes for details at hbarnes@woodsboro.org or call 301-401-7164.

An on-site wine and beer garden will be hosted by Links Bridge Winery and Rockwell brewery. Grilled Cheese Please, Calypso N' Roux, and M.R. Cheesecakes will also be present with their food trucks serving sandwiches, Cajun food, ice cream, snow cones, and other homemade treats.

Regarding the event, Burgess Heath Barnes says, "I welcome everyone to come out and enjoy a nice fall day in the beautiful historic Town of Woodsboro."
