Special Notes: With school just around the corner for many, get a head start scheduling physical and eye examinations and work with older students to budget summer job money for school supplies and other school-related expenses.

Holidays: Get ready for Labor Day, which is just around the corner! Enjoy the last few weeks of the summer with family and friends and always remember to include safety, common sense, and a good sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) in all of your summer plans.

The Garden: Plant tomatoes, peppers, beans and squash in the warm-season garden. Check browning turf for dry areas that may need extra waterings. Feed crape myrtles to prevent late-summer yellowing. Complete needed pruning of bougainvillea, chrysanthemums, and poinsettias. Considering adding water-conserving micro sprinklers to your sprinkler system.

J. Grubers' Thought for Today's Living:

"Gardens are for all ages: the young, for hope of the future; the elderly for fond memories of the past; and for those in between, the rewards of a good life now!"
