Warmer and more humid (11,12) with more showers and storms (13,14,15). Fair and cooler (16,17) with rain (18,19). Fair and mild (20, 21,22 with rain and cooler temperatures (23,24). Mostly fair with a few showers (25,26) turning fair and mild (27,28,29,30).

Tornado Watch: Watch for tornadoes in September from the 13th to the 15th.

Full moon: September's full moon is most famously known as the harvest moon. It is the full moon that falls closest to the autumnal equinox at a time when the moon rises soon after sunset on several successive days. According to tradition, the extra light from the moon during that period gave the farmer more time to finish up his chores and bring in the harvest. September's full moon occurs on the 17th a 9:01pm and is the harvest moon of 2005. The autumnal equinox will occur on Thursday, September 22nd

Holidays: labor day in on the first Monday (5th) and citizenship day on Saturday, the 17th.

The garden: fall is for planting! Plant spring-flowering bulbs such as daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips after the first hard frost. Plant pansies quickly so they can develop reliable roots before soil gets too cold. Fall-planted pansies will survive winter. Cool-season vegetable seeds and seedlings can be planted, too. Try cabbage, lettuce, beets, turnips, spinach, radishes, collards and broccoli; be sure to water thoroughly after planting.
