On
December 5, 2004,
Incarnation United Church of
Christ was presented with a
plaque from the Emmitsburg
Council of Churches for raising
the most money for the
Emmitsburg CROP WALK in 2004.
Bill Wivell, president of the
Emmitsburg Council of Churches,
and Phyllis Kelly, chairman for
the local CROP WALK, presented
the award to the congregation at
Incarnation for collecting
$2,228.30 for the walk.
A total
of $5,170.76 was raised by the
seven local churches who
participate in the Emmitsburg
CROP WALK with 55 walkers from
all churches. The CROP WALK
alleviates hunger throughout the
world, and especially in
Emmitsburg, where 25% of the
money raised stays with the
local food bank whose director
is Phyllis Kelly.
The walk
took place an a beautiful
Sunday, October 17, starting
from the park in Emmitsburg with
a send-off prayer by Rev. Bill
Warehime of
Tom's Creek United Methodist
Church. Thanks to all the
walkers from Incarnation and all
those who supported them with
their donations.
