William
was born in August of 1846 in Maryland according to the 1900
Emmitsburg Census. During the outbreak of the Civil War,
William enlisted when he was 16 years of age. His occupation
after the Civil War was listed as a "Moulder". He was living
with his sister, Sarah Elizabeth, brothers Thomas & George,
and a niece Maud Derr.
The 1910 Census shows them living on West Main Street and head
of household for his three siblings and niece. He and George
are both "Moulders" and Thomas is a blacksmith.
