Nurse Expires in Emmitsburg

Miss Rhoda H. Gillelan, 74, a registered nurse, died this morning at 1 o’clock at her home on Main St., Emmitsburg, after a year’s illness.

A daughter of the late George L. and Ida S.(Ohler) Gillelan, she is survived by a brother, J. T. Gillelan, Baltimore, and a sister, Miss Ruth Gillelan, Emmitsburg, with whom she resided.

She was a member of the Emmitsburg Presbyterian Church, treasurer of the church and a teacher of a Bible class.

She served in the Nurses Corps in 1917 and 1918, serving nine months of that time overseas. She was a member of Post No. 44 of the American Legion made up of members of the Nurses Corp.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Allison Funeral home, Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Edward Davison and the Rev. Philip Bower officiating. Interment in the Elias Lutheran Cemetery, Emmitsburg. Military rites for the funeral will be provided by the Francis X. Elder post of the American Legion
