Mrs. Bernadette (Miller) Hemler,
77, of Kelbaugh Rd., Thurmont, MD,
died Wednesday, July 28 at The York
Hospital, York, She was the wife of
the late Francis "Fritz" Hemler, who
died on September 12, 1985.
Born April 10, 1927, in
Emmitsburg, MD, she was a daughter
of the late Irvin W. and Mary S.
Hartdagen Miller.
Mrs. Heeler was employed for 33
years in the food service department
at Mt. St. Mary's University,
Emmitsburg, MD. She was a member of
St. Anthony's Shrine Parish,
Emmitsburg, a volunteer at the
Emmitsburg Food Bank and at St.
Catherine's Nursing Center, also in
Emmitsburg.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald F.
Hemler and Michael A. Hemler, both
of Thurmont; two daughters, Barbara
J. Andrew, of Thurmont and Sandra A.
Long, of Fairfield, PA; one
son-in-law, John Wantz, of Thurmont;
10 grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs.
Hemler was preceded in death by a
daughter, Wanda H. Wantz who died on
Oct. 5, 1993.
A Mass of Christian burial will
be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31
from St. Anthony's Shrine Parish,
Emmitsburg, with her pastor, the
Rev. James Hannon as the celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Anthony's
Shrine Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from noon to 9 p.m.
on Friday, July 30 at the Skiles
Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St.,
Emmitsburg with a rosary at 8 p.m.
