Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Shorb,
86, of West Lincoln Ave.,
Emmitsburg, died Friday, April 30,
2004, at St. Catherine's Nursing
Center, Emmitsburg. She was the wife
of the late Clarence Irvin Shorb.
Born June 13, 1917, in
Emmitsburg, she was a daughter of
the late Thomas and Virginia Lingg
Zurgable
She was a member of
St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Emmitsburg; a member
of the Sodality of the Blessed
Virgin Mary; and a former member of
the American Legion Auxiliary,
Francis X. Elder Post 121,
Emmitsburg.
She was a retired laundress at
St. Joseph's Provincial House for
many years.
Surviving are two children, a
daughter, Gwen Topper and husband
Tony, and son, Donald Shorb and wife
Patricia, all of Emmitsburg; five
grandchildren, Pam Barnhart, Donald
Shorb Jr., Shannon Poehler, Tara
Manges and Tanya Fream; nine
great-grandchildren, Athena Fream,
Blake, Dakota and Lexi Barnhart,
Camden, Devin and Garrett Shorb, and
Declan and Evan Poehler.
She is also survived by a number
of nieces and nephews; and one
sister, Sister Amelia Zurgable,
Daughter of Charity.
She was preceded in death by one
sister, Alice Balmer; and three
brothers,
Henry, Maurice and Roger Zurgable.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4,
from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Emmitsburg, with her pastor
the Rev. Stephen P. Trzecieski
officiating.
Interment will be in New St.
Joseph's Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
Monday, May 3, at Skiles Funeral
Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg,
where a Rosary will be recited at
8:15 p.m.
