Dorothy Marie Agnew Rife, 95, formally of Greenwood Avenue, Takoma Park, entered into eternal rest on February 2. She was the wife of the late Elmer Eugene Rife, whom she wed on April 17, 1939. She was the last of her immediate family.
Born on October 18, 1910 in Emmitsburg, the daughter of the late William and Carri Favorite Agnew. At the age of 10 she returned to Emmitsburg to live with her grandparents, John and Louisa Horner Agnew. After graduation from Emmitsburg High School,
class of 1928, she went to Washington, D.C., to attend Garfield School of Nursing, graduating with the class of 1931. She also attended Catholic University. She was a supervisor of general duty nursing at Garfield Hospital before spending the rest of
career doing private duty nursing.
She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Kensington, and the Garfield Nurses Alumni Association.
Mrs. Rife is survived by her loving family, Hazel and Bill Fox of Charlestown, W.V., Donna and Roy Webb of Lisbon, Md., Sherri, Chuck, Russell, Kate Gingrich of Laytonsville, Md., Roy Webb Jr. of Orlando, Fla., Jennifer Webb and Morad Benmouna of Belair,
Md., Hazel Gregg of Damascus, Md., and her special friend Angela Ellsworth.
Friends may call at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, Md., on Thursday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, February 10, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 3101 University Blvd., West Kensington,
Md., at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
