Mr. Wilbur Topper

Mr. Wilbur Ray Topper, 63, of Westminster, and formerly of Taneytown and Emmitsburg, died on August 1, 2006, at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 2, 1942, in Emmitsburg, son of the late Carroll Charles Topper and the late Gladys Marie Topper. He was employed by Dairy Maid Dairy as a truck driver, until his illness from the late 1980s through the late 1990s. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Taneytown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and canning, family time and his pets.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 25 years of marriage, Margaret "Peggy" Topper; five sons, Wilbur Ray Topper Jr. of Frostburg, Carroll C. Charlie Topper of Taneytown, Michael A. "Mikie" Topper, also of Taneytown, Johnny Joseph Topper of Westminster and Ralph Vincent Topper of Thurmont; two daughters, Tammy Marie Topper of Thurmont and Sharon Ann Howard of Taneytown; two brothers, Francis Topper of Thorhill, Tenn., and Thomas Topper of Emmitsburg; two sisters, Betty Topper of Gettysburg, Pa., and Linda Kreitz of Thurmont; six grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his father and mother, Mr. Topper was predeceased by a sister, Judy A. Ott.

A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday, August 5, at 1 p.m., in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Taneytown, Md.
