Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Sanders
Ruth Elizabeth Sanders, 90, of Quincy, Pa., formerly of Emmitsburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at the Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy.
Born May 30, 1919, in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Emmit and Bertha (Anderson) Harbaugh. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Julian Marion Sanders, in 2006.
Ruth was a life member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg. She worked as a seamstress all of her life, working in various sewing factories and then from her home. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, taking rides through the countryside and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy Stambaugh and husband, Lee, of Thurmont; grandchildren, Edward Sanders and wife, Teresa, of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Michelle Sanders and companion, Mike Kershner, of Waynesboro, Pa.; granddaughter-in-law, Kim Sanders of Waynesboro, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Aubrey
Kershner and companion, Nathan Deardorff, Adam, Elizabeth, Cody, and Emily Sanders, and Sarah Kershner; and great-great-grandson, Julian Deardorff.
Also surviving are a special niece, Jean Shriner of Emmitsburg; and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Julian M. Sanders and Charles E. Sanders; a grandson, Billy Ray Sanders; and by eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 313 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, with the Rev. John B. Rudolph officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairfield Union Cemetery in Fairfield, Pa.
