Sterling Herbert "Hub" White

Sterling Herbert "Hub" White, age 82, of Emmitsburg, died on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Herbert W. and Irene (Adams) White. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Theresa Eyler White.
Mr. White became a milk inspector with Penn Dairies, which later became Interstate Milk. He later retired from Land O Lakes. Hub was a lifetime member of the Vigilant Hose Co. in Emmitsburg, where he served as fire chief for 11 years and also served as president. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Emmitsburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Doug White and wife Sue of Gettysburg, Carl White and fianc'e Karyn Myers of Emmitsburg, Mary Ann Wagner and husband Mark of Hagerstown, and Bob White and wife Lisa of Thurmont; grandchildren, Rhianna, Heather, Matthew, Tiffany and Jordan. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Christine Curley for her many acts of kindness to the family during Sterling's recent illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 44 DePaul St., Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Charles Krieg, C.M. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery.
