Anna Mae Mort, age 88, of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA.
Born June 24, 1923 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lawson and Elsie (Sheely) Herring. She was pre- deceased by her husband, John M. Mort, Sr. in 1982.
Anna was a very active life member of Incarnation Church of Christ in Emmitsburg, where she served as secretary of the Women’s Guild and as sec- retary of the Consistory. She was a member of the church choir and was also active in the Emmitsburg Senior Citizens Group.
Surviving are sons, John Mort and wife Darlene of Waynesboro, PA, Charles Mort and wife Agnes of Altoona, PA, Robert Mort and wife Bobbi of Waynesboro, PA, Bernard Mort and wife Helen of Trenton, FL, Philip Mort and wife Shawn of Fairfield, PA, and David Mort and wife Judy of New Port Richey, FL.; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6
great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Herring of Hanover, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main Street, Emmitsburg with her pastor the Rev. Katie Penick officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
