Town Manager's
Report

Streets:
- Staff installed a
speed bump on South Jamison Avenue
- Staff repaired a
number of street lights
- Staff has been
repainting yellow curbs
- Staff has
installed 15 mph speed limit signs in Pembrook and
Silo Hill
- The Town has
arranged with Allegheny Power to have new street
(pole) lights installed on Armstrong and Stoner
Lanes (no installation fee & a monthly fee of
$15 per light)
Water:
- Staff has again increased
the flow from Rainbow Lake to 120 gpm which has
reduced the draw on the wells
- Staff has again
flushed the raw water line from Rainbow Lake to
the water treatment plant
- Staff found and
repaired a major water leak (about 50 gpm)
- The high particle
counts in the raw lake water caused by the high
algae counts are being controlled by applying
copper sulfate which seems to be helping
- Water production and consumption. We
produced and purchased an average of 424,780 gpd.
We consumed an average of 379,293 gpd.
- The difference is "Backwash Water"
...(10.7%). We purchased 555,290 gals. of water from MSM this month.
- 55.0% of this water came from wells
- 04.5% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's
- 40.5% of this water came from Rainbow Lake
Wastewater:

We didn't have any
raw sewerage spills in the month of August

Staff has been
performing general / seasonal maintenance at the
wastewater treatment plan

The "overland
flow" treatment system is in use and working
well and the irrigation system is running

We received about
3.5 inches of precipitation this
month

Wastewater Treatment:
- We treat an average of
365,000 (consumed 379,293 gpd) which means that
0% of the wastewater treated this month was
"wild water"
- We exceeded
the plant's design capacity on 0 days in the
month of August

Trash:
-
Trash
pickup days will remain Monday & Thursday for the
month of September
Parks:
-
Staff is performing
standard maintenance - on all
playground equipment, ballfields and mowing
and trimming

Staff has been
working on the swimming pool - installing new
table umbrellas and repairing lights
Meetings Attended:
- With Frederick
County Parks & Rec. related to our after
school program
- The bid opening
for the Brookfield water pressure reduction valve
project
- With the
contractor related to the completion of the public
improvement work at Southgate
- With staff to
review and calculate the remaining improvement
guarantees for Southgate
