Streets:

Staff has been
plowing snow and treating streets

S&W Construction
completed installation of the median barrier in
Silo Hill Parkway
- Staff has cleared
the sidewalks and parking lot at the Community
Center
- Staff has
performed repairs to the street lights on East
& West Main Street
- Staff has
installed the convex mirrors at the sidewalk and
drive-thru window of F&M Bank on East Main
Street
Water:
-
The new media in the
roughing filters continues to function very well
and is increasing the capacity of the DE filters.
We are now getting seven (7) day runs on the DE
filters. This improved operation has greatly
reduced our backwash water requirements.

The tank maintenance
company has completed the repairs to the 500,000
gal. storage tank and that tank is now back on
line
- Staff has been in contact with the manufacturer
of the smaller (140,00 gal) storage tank and the
inspection and repair (if needed) of that tank
should begin very soon.
- Bid packages have been sent out on the Well #4
connection project. We will have this well
on line within the next 3-6 months. This
well will add approximately 160 residential water
taps or 40,000 gpd of capacity to the system.
- Work is proceeding well and on schedule for the
Mt. View Rd. waterline rehab. project. This
project should be completed within the next two
weeks, with the exception of the final paving.
- Water production and consumption. We
produced and purchased an average of 289,320 gpd.
We consumed an average of 366,573 gpd.
- The difference is "Backwash Water"
...(5.9%). Due to the rehab of the
500,000 gal. storage tank. We purchased
1,006,230 gals. of water from MSM this month.
- 51% of this water came from wells
- 09% of this water came from Mt. St. Mary's
- 40% of this water came from Rainbow Lake
Wastewater:

Staff has been performing general/seasonal
maintenance at the wastewater treatment plant

Staff has been helping with snow removal
-
We received about 1.3 inches of precipitation this
month

We did have one sewerage spill in the month it
took place at MH81 (Welty Ave) and due to a block
sewer main
-
Wastewater Treatment:
- We treat an average of 604,000 gpd (consumed
366,573 gpd) which means that 39% of the
wastewater treated this month was "Wild
Water"
- We did exceed the plants design capacity on
3 days in the month of February;
- 2/9 -
811,000 gallons
- 2/14 - 1,215,000 gallons
- 2/15 - 1,036,000 gallons

pickup days will be Monday & Thursday for the
month of March
Parks:

Staff is performing standard winter maintenance
Meetings Attended:
- SHA to discuss the
water & sewer connections for the new
visitor's center
- MDE related to
taps allocations for the SHA visitor's center and
the new building for Emmitsburg Glass
- MDE related to the
civil design for the reconstruction of the Town's
sanitary sewer main east of Rte. 15
- with the
"After School Program" staff related to
budget matters
- Progress meetings
related to the Mt. View Rd. waterline rehab and
the sanitary sewer rehab projects
